Core services
We offer daily out-patient services and handle approximately 1300 patients per day, on an average.

M.G.M.C.R.I. houses 550 in-patient beds. The general wards are spacious, adequately ventilated and illuminated. We propose to enhance the number of beds to 900, in the near future. The hospital’s bed occupancy rate is about 85% at present.

The hospital provides casualty and emergency medical services round the clock.

A fully-equipped ambulance service is available.

Our 24-hours blood bank is in a state of readiness to develop into a full-fledged department of transfusion medicine.

A variety of minor and major surgical procedures are performed in ten state-of-the-art operation theatres. Closed-circuit televisions are provided for medical students to view various operative procedures from outside the operation theatres.

Our intensive care units are furnished with essential critical care equipment and cater to the special needs of critically ill patients.

The hospital is endowed with advanced equipment such as spiral CT, MRI, fully automated random access blood chemistry analyzer, chemiluminescence analyzer, treadmill, computerized ECG, and a flexible fibreoptic bronchoscopy unit.

Haemodialysis, neonatal ventilators, PUVA photochemotherapy, biofeedback, and sinus endoscopy procedures are part of our therapeutic armamentarium.

Auxiliary services
Our core services are backed up and supported by streamlined and efficient auxiliary services.

Our Medical Records Department is fully computerized, fast and competent. The pharmacy at M.G.M.C.R.I. is well-stocked and ensures that our patients do not have to leave the campus to purchase medications. Our sophisticated Central Sterile Supplies Department (CSSD) caters to the sterilization needs of the entire hospital. The central kitchen has a high standard of hygiene, and functions under the direct supervision of an experienced dietician.

Other ancillary services include a laundry and a central gas station. A proficient housekeeping team supervises the sanitation of the entire campus. The hospital has its own advanced waste management system, which includes an incineration plant and a modern sewage treatment plant to handle bio-medical and other wastes in an eco-friendly manner.

Community services
Our institution subscribes to the view that outreach healthcare programs are a boon to the community. True to its commitment to public health, M.G.M.C.R.I. conducts about two free medical camps every month for underserved rural populations. In addition, we have established one rural health centre at Seliamedu and one urban health centre at Ariyankuppam. In appreciation of our healthcare services, the Government of Puducherry has allotted two primary health centers, one at Kirumampakkam and the other at Nettapakkam.

Under the effective guidance of the Department of Community Medicine, our medical students are taught to take healthcare to the masses, through outreach programs.

Academic & research activities
All academic activities of the faculty members are coordinated by the Scientific and Academic Forum of M.G.M.C.R.I. This forum organizes scientific meetings once a month.

Biomedical research receives high priority at M.G.M.C.R.I. Our institution has been developing a liaison with governmental and non-governmental organizations for research grants. All research activities are supported and coordinated by the Research Committee of M.G.M.C.R.I.
